With the increasing demand for electronic products that are more precise and lightweight, engineers face the challenge of not only creating intricate circuit layouts but also strategically placing test points for efficient testing.

Key Considerations for PCB Test Points:

  • It is recommended to place test points on one side of the PCB to prioritize testing focus, even though customization is possible on both sides.
  • Priority of measurement points: (I) Test points, (II) Foot parts, (III) Through-hole holes.
  • Ensure a distance of over 2.54mm between the measured point and pre-drilled holes.
  • Keep the measured point at least 2.54mm away from nearby components.
  • Evenly distribute measured points on the PCB to avoid clustering in specific areas.
  • The diameter of the measuring point should be no less than 0.7mm.
  • Include positioning holes on the board, with a maximum of two per PCB, free from tin contamination.

Understanding what constitutes a PCB test point is crucial for manufacturers, as the number of test points can influence pricing. Some manufacturers have a standard rate of 30,000 test points per square meter, with additional charges beyond this threshold.
