Custom Control Box for Macro Studio Lighting
Managing the lighting in a macro studio is crucial for achieving the perfect shot. I custom-designed a control box to efficiently control the back-lit and front-lit lights on my subject, allowing me to easily turn them on and off as needed.
When I purchased a macro studio setup from eBay, it lacked a control unit, only providing direct USB power connections. To solve this issue, I integrated three USB ports and three toggle switches into a single control unit.
Initially, I faced challenges with the circuit board’s sizing in the first version. However, utilizing my 3D printer, I overcame these obstacles and successfully completed the project.
Key Steps in the Project:
- Designing a custom control box for precise lighting control in macro photography.
- Integrating three USB ports and toggle switches into the control unit.
- Overcoming sizing issues with the circuit boards using a 3D printer.
