Fusion 360 is the first and only integrated cloud-based platform offering CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB tools all in one.
When you complete the design of a PCB in Fusion 360 and need to export coordinate files for the manufacturer, you may notice that using the “MANUFACTURING” -> “OUTPUTS” -> “PickAndPlace” option from the menu generates coordinate files in the .mnt format. However, there is an alternative method to generate coordinate files in the .csv format.
This guide uses the demo board example “Air_Quality_Sensor” within Fusion 360 as an illustration.
Step 1: Open Fusion 360, then go to “File” -> “Open” -> “Sample” -> “Electronics Samples” -> “Air_Quality_Sensor,” as shown in the image below.
Step 2: Open the board file for “Air_Quality_Sensor,” as indicated by the red box in the image below.
Step 3: From the menu bar, select “MANUFACTURING” -> “MANUFACTURING” -> “CAM Processor,” as highlighted in the image below.
Step 4: In the CAM Processor window that appears, select “Assembly” -> “Pick and Place” on the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, choose “CSV” as the Output Type. Finally, click “Export File” in the lower right corner, then select your preferred save location.
The exported files are displayed in the image below. Remember to save the Pick and Place files for both the front and back separately.
