Fritzing is an easy-to-use electronic design automation software, designed to meet the needs of both manufacturers and hobbyists.
At Wellcircuits, we recommend that our customers provide Gerber files in the RS-274X format for manufacturing. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of exporting Gerber and drill files from Fritzing.
Generating Gerber and Drill Files
- After completing the PCB design, go to the menu bar and select “File” → “Open”, then choose the .fzz file you wish to work with. This guide uses the example board provided with Fritzing, named “Countdown.fzz”.
- Initially, you will see the Breadboard interface. To generate the Gerber files, switch to the PCB interface by clicking on the area indicated by the arrow in the image below.
The PCB layout will now be displayed, as shown in the figure below.
- Next, select “File” → “Export” → “For Production” → “Extended Gerber (RS-274X)…” from the menu bar, as illustrated in the image below.
- Choose a folder where you would like to save the Gerber and drill files.
- After a few seconds, the Gerber and drill files will be successfully exported, as shown in the image below.
