The USB Power Injector provides a simple way to supply power to USB 2.0 devices using a lab power supply. It enables you to connect USB devices to a standard lab PSU (Power Supply) while maintaining data communication with the host system.

This device allows for testing USB devices at various supply voltages, setting current limits (for safety purposes), and facilitates easy current draw measurements, ensuring consistency during development. It effectively addresses power supply issues commonly encountered with certain USB devices.

Why is it Important to Measure USB Devices?

When powering a device from a standard USB 2.0 port, whether from a PC or a typical USB hub, you cannot achieve the level of precision provided by an adjustable lab power supply. This means precise voltage and current limits cannot be set during development, which can result in issues like inadequate under/over-voltage protection or excessive current flowing through your device.

While USB hubs typically offer overcurrent protection, most do not communicate these overcurrent events to the operating system. This can cause confusion and delays for hardware engineers during development or for testing personnel during production. The USB Power Injector helps eliminate these issues.
